The train had arrived in Station Square. It was pretty late, about 7:00. Shadow stepped out of the train and helped Amy off.

“Thanks, Shadow!”

“Um, Sure…”

“So, um would you do me a favor?”

“What do you want?”

“Do you think… you could walk me home? Maybe?” She asked bashfully.

“But why would you want me to-”

Amy looked down shamefully “You’re right. It was a stupid thing to ask.”

“No, no! I’ll do it. Where is it?”

“Just a flew blocks down from the hotel with the chao garden.”

“Come on let’s go.” He started to walk in the direction of Amy’s

“Okay!” She ran ahead to follow ahead.

It was dark outside. Only the streetlights and the store lights could guide them home. They had reached the hotel with the chao garden.

“It’s just around the corner from here.” Amy informed.

They walked beside each other. Amy felt very relaxed. Even though she wasn’t walking with Sonic, she still enjoyed it so. She felt warm and safe. She joyfully hummed the way there.

The finally arrived at Amy’s apartment.

“Is this it?” Shadow asked.

“Yup.”

“Well here we are.”

“Thanks I had fun!” She always had a perky and cheerful voice.

“Yeah. Me too.” His voice wasn’t as enthusiastic as Amy’s.

“Uh- Shadow… I um-” She couldn’t exactly find the words to speak. Instead, she reached out and gave Shadow a peck on the cheek. “Bye!” She ran into the building to her room.

Shadow turned red. He touched his cheek. “Bye…” He said in shock.

Meanwhile…

“I wonder what that thing was? Could it really be powerful enough to destroy the world?” Sonic asked.

He was on his way to the hotel. He still had that evil voice on his mind.

“I hope there won’t be anymore robots coming. I’ve already had my fill…” He said. putting his hand on his chest. It still hurts… He thought. He thought back to the battle with the robot.

Sonic saw something ahead that made him flare up. “That can’t be…” Sonic squinted to see if that was him in the distance. “Shadow!” He angrily yelled. He had spotted him by Amy’s apartment.

Shadow broke out of his daze when he heard Sonic’s voice. “Faker! What do you want?”

“What are you doing at Amy’s apartment? Were you trying to hurt her?” He spat back at him.

“Don’t be ridiculous. If you got to know, I spent the day with her. I just dropped her off because she asked me to. It’s more than you ever did.”

“Shut up! Besides, I don’t buy that story. It’s hard to believe that Amy would hang with a creep like you, let alone ask you to walk her home.”

“Do you believe this because you find no one capable of wanting to hang around Amy? Do you believe this because you despise me? Or do you believe this because you are just selfish and arrogant?”

“Shut up! You have no right to hang around Amy.”

“You don’t control her world, you know.”

“At least I can keep her away from creeps like you!”

“Believe what you wish, but I assure you, I meant no harm to Amy. You can even ask her yourself.”

“Look, I’ve got bigger problems to deal with than you, Shadow. Just stay away from Amy… Or you’ll regret it.”
“Before you childishly run off, let me asked you this: Do you really care for her happiness?”

“What? What are you talking about? Of course I do!”

“Then you might want to reconsider your actions.” He then walked off into the night.

Now he was concerned about Amy. He wanted to check to make sure she was okay, so he walked up the stairs to her apartment room. He knocked on her door violently.

Amy heard the knock. “Did Shadow forget to tell me something?” Amy asked violently. She quickly unlocked the door. To her surprise, it wasn’t Shadow, but it was actually her blue hero, Sonic. “S-Sonic! I can’t believe it! What are you doing here?” She was so excited to see him. She leaped and gave him a hug.

“Hey Amy.” He sound concerned.

“Is something wrong, Sonic?”

“Amy, I want to ask you something.”

“Oh yes, Sonic! I will marry you!”

“Amy, seriously.”

“I am being serious.”

“Look, I didn’t come to ask you to marry me. Is it true that you were hanging out with Shadow?”

“Yeah. Is there something wrong?”

“Hell yes! Amy trust me, don’t hang out with him. He’s bad news.”

“Excuse me? You can’t tell me who I can and can’t see!” She angrily shouted.

“What’s the big deal? He’s just a cheap knock-off a cool guy!”

“Sonic, he wants to hang out with me. He’s my friend. And I’m his. It’s more than you ever did for me. It’s nice to hang out with someone who wants to be with you and not out of pity. Not that you would understand.”

“What’s the deal, Amy? I thought you were cool with me!”

“I was… until you told me that I can’t see one of my friends!”

“He’ll hurt you Amy! I’m not lying about this!”

“You’re full of crap, Sonic! He would never do anything like that! Can’t you let me be happy?” Tears started to swell in her eyes.

Sonic took a step back. Shadow’s voice came into his head. “Before you childishly run off, let me asked you this: Do you really care for her happiness?”

“What? What are you talking about? Of course I do!”

“Amy, please don’t cry… I just don’t want to see you get hurt.”

“But Sonic, you don’t understand, he’s my friend… He makes me happy! Can’t you trust my judgment? Just this once? Please Sonic!”

Sonic sighed. He reached his arm out towards Amy. She flinched, afraid Sonic might pull her hair or something like that. Instead he wiped her tears off her face.

Sonic put his hands on her shoulders.

“Listen. I don’t trust him. But I do trust you. And I don’t want to see you cry. If something strange happens, you come to me right away, promise?”

“Sonic, I- I- I love you!” She franticly yelled out as she hugged him tightly.

Sonic blushed. Hope I’m not making the wrong choice… He thought.
